Rookie Player Stunned By $50,000 Win on Scratch and Match Game

A 20-year-old Dundalk woman is celebrating a $50,000 Maryland Lottery win after an unexpected discovery. She visited Lottery headquarters Oct. 13 with her Mom-Mom to claim the prize.

Although she is excited about her good fortune, the winner considers herself a relative rookie when it comes to playing the Lottery. She has been playing for less than two years and wasn’t expecting to become a $50,000 winner so soon.

Her winning adventure began while she was running errands for her Mom-Mom. During a stop at Wise Carroll Mart at 220 Wise Avenue in Dundalk, she picked up some items for her grandmother and spotted a scratch-off game she hadn’t seen before, Scratch & Match. The ticket’s fluorescent purple and pink colors caught her eye, along with a font that reminded her of an old television show.

Intrigued, she purchased a $10 game and headed home.

The next day, she scanned the ticket using her phone and was stunned by the result: a $50,000 win.

She immediately shared the exciting news with her Mom-Mom and other family members, turning an ordinary errand into an unforgettable family moment.

Now that she has had time to think about her windfall, the winner has a plan for the money. She intends to save most of it, use some to pay bills and treat her beloved pets, a handful of cats and three dogs, to some goodies.

As for her future Lottery plans, the Dundalk winner hopes to continue playing occasionally, with dreams of landing another top prize.

The Scratch & Match game has a top prize of $100,000 and a second-tier prize of $50,000. Three top prizes and one second-tier prize remain unclaimed.
