School Bus Driver Picks Up Load of Cash

Charles County man claims $60,303 prize on Racetrax Superfecta Box bet

“I felt lucky,” said the happy school bus driver who rolled into Maryland Lottery headquarters from Charles County with a $60,303-winning Racetrax ticket.

After experiencing a lucky feeling, the 59-year-old visited Fred’s Liquor in Charlotte Hall just to play Racetrax. In fact, he felt so lucky that he paid for five drawings and added the Bonus multiplier feature to the ticket. His horse selections of 1, 4, 9 and 11 were based on his daughters’ birthdays.

He placed a Superfecta Box bet that the four horses would finish in any order in the first four spots and they did. Once horses 11, 9, 4 and 1 finished in that order, he won a base prize of $20,101. The 3x bonus for that drawing tripled his lucky win.

“I was very happy,” he said. In addition to driving the school bus, the anonymous player from a small town works on his family’s farm. When asked of his plans for his winnings, he says that he plans to pay off bills and put the rest of the windfall into his savings account.

Fred’s Liquor, located at 30090 Three Notch Road in St. Mary’s County, will receive a $603 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $60,303. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
