Sevens Scratch-Off Secures Substantial Score for Severn Winner

An occasional Lottery player from Severn won a $77,777 Maryland Lottery prize on the brand new $10 Triple Red 7s Multiplier scratch-off.

The winner and her sister-in-law, who plays the Lottery more frequently, stopped for gas at the Exxon station at 805 Reece Road in Severn and bought Lottery tickets. They’re particularly fond of that location because, in addition to the usual amenities, it often hosts a food truck that they enjoy.

“I tell her to buy tickets. You never know when you are going to be lucky,” the winner’s sister-in-law said May 18 when the two stopped by Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the prize.

After scratching the ticket, the winner saw that she matched the number 7 over the $77,777 amount. Still, she was not fully convinced she had won. Her sister-in-law confirmed the win by scanning the ticket using the Lottery app on her phone.

“I’ve been doing it for years and she just plays a couple of times, and wins,” the sister-in-law said, while smiling.

While the winner has no immediate plans for the windfall, she is pondering the purchase of a car.

The Triple Red 7s Multiplier scratch-off went on sale last week on May 15 and the Severn winner is the first one to claim a top prize, leaving another nine remaining. The ticket also has 22 prizes of $10,000 and hundreds of thousands of prizes between $10 and $1,000.
