Finds top-prize win on Show Me $50,000! scratch-off
A lucky Glen Burnie woman got a bit more than she bargained for when she went out on her weekly shopping trip. While treating herself to a $5 scratch-off, she helped herself to a $50,000 top-prize win in the Show Me $50,000! game.
The Anne Arundel County resident told Lottery officials she found her luck last week at a Glen Burnie Royal Farms store. The 73-year-old retiree said she often picks up an instant ticket when she’s out running errands or visiting a store.
When she scratched off her instant ticket later that evening, the lucky woman immediately matched one of the game’s winning numbers. She continued scratching off the game until she revealed another matching number! Unable to take the suspense, the loyal player scanned the instant ticket using the Lottery’s mobile app. The message flashed back that she won $50,000! The happy player then scratched off the rest of the instant ticket so that she could see her big win with her own eyes.
“I still can’t believe it,” said the player.
The lucky winner explained that she is on a fixed income and the $50,000 prize will go far. She plans to pay off a few bills and use the majority of the prize for a long-awaited bathroom remodeling project.
The source of her lucky scratch-off will also benefit from the big win. Royal Farms #022 located at 200 Oak Manor Drive in Glen Burnie earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. With this win, the game has five more $50,000 top prizes remaining along with 10 $5,000 prizes.
The Show Me family of scratch-off games – $1, $2, $5 and $10 instant tickets – went on sale May 23 while the $20 scratch-off arrived in stores on April 18. Players can choose from a $1 Show Me $1,000! game, a $2 Show Me $10,000! game, a $5 Show Me $50,000! scratch-off, $10 Show Me $100,000! and a $20 Show Me $1,000,000! instant ticket.
