Southern Anne Arundel Player Wins $50,000 on St. Mary’s County Ticket Buy

When the mood strikes, a Maryland Lottery player from southern Anne Arundel County buys scratch-offs, and that resulted in a $50,000 win during a recent excursion to St. Mary’s County.

“When I’m out and about, I think about it,” she said June 30 after claiming her prize on the $20

THE GAME OF LIFE scratch-off at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I like to play when I feel it!”

She “felt it” for the big win when she was in Lexington Park for a family commitment, so she stopped at the Hermanville Sunoco station at 21141 Three Notch Road and made her ticket purchase. As always, she carefully scratched her landing spots on the game to reveal the second-tier win. (The game has a top prize of $1 million.)

Though excited to have won a substantial prize – her previous personal best Lottery win was $3,500 – she has no major plans for the winnings beyond socking it away in savings. She’s done her share of traveling, and lives close enough to family and friends that there’s no need to be on the move for visits.

She is certain about one thing though. Asked if she will continue playing the Lottery – a hobby she picked up from a friend several years ago – she said: “I sure will.”

THE GAME OF LIFE™ is an oversized ticket that doesn’t fit into Lottery vending machines, so it’s often necessary to ask a clerk to buy it. It went on sale in October of 2022 and still has three of the original $1 million prizes remaining unclaimed, along with four of the original six second-tier $50,000 prizes.
