A St. Mary’s County woman knew she had won at least $2,000 on a FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier ticket, but then she went to a store clerk for confirmation. She was in shock when she learned she had a $100,000 winning ticket.
The store was surprised too.
“When they looked at my ticket, their eyes got wider and wider,” the winner recalled when she claimed the prize Jan. 20 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The Southern Maryland resident had two $1,000 winning spots on her ticket, but those prizes were in a row with a 50X symbol. That multiplied each one to $50,000 for a total top-prize of $100,000.
The retail worker plans to give her prize to her kids and grandchildren.
According to the loyal lottery player, she prefers to FAST PLAY tickets over scratch-offs.
“The scratch-offs don’t last long in stores. That is why I like to buy FAST PLAYS,” she said.
The winning ticket was purchased on Jan. 15 at the Food Lion at 30290 Mount Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall. For selling the winner, the Charles County store will receive a $1,000 bonus.
The $10 FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier went on sale April 3, 2023 with 30 top prizes of $100,000 each, and this is the eighth of those to be won. That leaves another 22 top prizes, as well as 12 at the $50,000 level and 24 prizes of $20,000 each, along with tens of thousands of others ranging from $10 to $10,000.
