A “Happy Couple” from Suitland had 100,000 extra reasons to be happy after winning a $100,000 top prize on the FAST PLAY game Mega Multiplier.
A couple from Suitland is looking into ways to continue multiplying a $100,000 win on the Maryland Lottery FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier game so it becomes an investment fund for a lifetime.
“We’re going to save it and invest in something that will multiply. We’ll figure out something. You’ve got to make it work for you,” one of the two said Sept. 3 after they claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The anonymous pair are going by the name “Happy Couple” to tell their winning tale.
A study in how opposites attract, one of the two is outgoing and brimming with emotion, while the other is friendly but reserved and methodical. It was the methodical partner who supplied $20 to make a Lottery purchase at the Royal Farms store at 5200 Auth Road in Camp Springs on Aug. 30.
That $20 went to buy two $10 FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier tickets, and when the outgoing half of the Happy Couple realized one ticket was a $100,000 winner, she says she “slid down the wall!”
“She sure did,” her partner said. “I told her to calm down before you hyperventilate!”
The Happy Couple double checked the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app, and then began talking about trips to Jamaica and other possible flashy options. But their decision to invest eventually carried the day.
That does not, however, mean an end to playing the Lottery.
“I’m getting some Powerball tickets today,” the Happy Couple’s outgoing half said, alluding to the game’s $1.4 billion jackpot up for grabs in the Sept. 3 drawing.
The Royal Farms store receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-tier winning FAST PLAY ticket.
The $10 FAST PLAY game Mega Multiplier went on sale starting in April with 30 top-tier prizes of $100,000, and 23 of those remain waiting to be won as of Sept. 3, along with 12 remaining prizes at the $50,000 level, 24 at the $20,000 level, 23 at the $10,000 level and tens of thousands ranging from $10 to $1,000.
