A Baltimore woman, who is a fan of the MONOPOLY™ games, can’t stop the tears after scratching her way to a $1 million win on the $20 MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off game.
She was out running errands in June when she stopped at York Road Plaza Wine and Spirits to pick up some scratch-offs. Included in her purchase was the $20 MONOPOLY™ X100 game.
Later that evening, while relaxing at home, she began scratching her tickets. What she saw when she played the MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off made her sit straight up in the bed. It appeared she’d won $1 million. She was in awe and began to cry.
“I took off my glasses and thought, ‘This can’t be right,’” the big winner said Aug. 12 when she claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I put my glasses back on and saw that I really had a matching number and it was a $1 million prize.”
The stunned player needed confirmation, so she sent her daughter a picture of the winning ticket. The daughter was equally as shocked.
“I was numb but still a little doubtful,” said the daughter, who accompanied her mom to claim the prize. “That’s because one time she thought she had a big win and it wasn’t.” Her daughter immediately left work to be there for her mother.
When the daughter arrived, the mom retrieved the ticket from where she had it hidden and showed her daughter. After scanning the ticket on her phone, the daughter confirmed the win.
“We just sat there looking crazy,” said the amazed player. “It’s so unreal and I can’t stop crying.”
The teary-eyed winner said the first thing she plans to do is retire. She’s also pondering some home improvements and will share some with close family members. The remainder, she said, she’ll invest and sit back and “relax.” Two $1 million top prizes remain on the popular ticket.
York Road Plaza Wine and Spirits at 6360 York Road in Baltimore receives a bonus of $1,000 for selling the top prize on the MONOPOLY™ X100 game.
The $20 MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off game went on sale in January 2025 and is part of a Maryland Lottery family of MONOPOLY games.
