Third Largest Racetrax Prize Nabbed by Hagerstown Man

Special numbers deliver a $200,126 Superfecta win

“I’m tired of these small amounts,” said a 32-year-old Hagerstown man when referring to his past Racetrax wins. “I was hoping one day, I’d win big.” Well his wish has come true. The lucky player just won a $200,000 Racetrax prize this week!

The laid-back family man stopped in a 7-Eleven in Frederick earlier this week to buy a few snacks and decided to play the Lottery while there. He purchased some scratch-off games and placed a $1 Superfecta Racetrax bet with the bonus for 20 draws using his own special numbers — 12, 10, 8 and 6.

He pocketed his games and headed to work, checking his tickets later using the Maryland Lottery app. The entrepreneur was super excited when he realized his big $200,126 win. He immediately called his wife to share the news.

“I had to physically show her how I won for her to believe me,” said the father of four.

“This just feels so good,” said the winner’s wife when he claimed the Lottery prize. “Now, we can relax a bit.”

The winner, who also won a $50,000 scratch-off prize a few years ago, shared with Lottery Officials that he plans to use some of the winnings for a new home and will leave a legacy for his family.

This is the third largest Racetrax prize ever claimed. The largest, a $361,842 prize, was won by an Upper Marlboro player in 2015.

The Washington County man found his Lottery luck at the 7-Eleven located at 501 East Street in Frederick. The Lottery retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
