Rockville resident takes home top prize on $20 scratch-off
A Montgomery County man who is a Lottery scratch-off enthusiast decided to stay loyal to his favorite game when he entered Ollie’s Beer, Wine & Deli in Rockville. The instant ticket fan sometimes plays other games, such as Pick 4 and Racetrax, but decided to buy only a $50,000 Cash scratch-off that day.
The anonymous winner played the game and revealed a matching number for his big $50,000 payday. He was shocked to see the top-prize win.
“I was stunned. I didn’t believe it,” the winner told Lottery officials. “I always thought it wasn’t possible for me to win a top prize. I play so often but it never mattered to me.”
After revealing his prize, the Rockville resident quickly rushed home. The only person he has shared his great news with is a close friend. Asked what he plans to do with his winnings, the player said he would pay bills and help out his family.
His lucky retailer located at 2011 Veirs Mill Road in Montgomery County also benefits from the win. Ollie’s Beer, Wine & Deli will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $50,000.
The $50,000 Cash game went on sale in December 2022 with 160 top prizes. There are 84 remaining, along with 93 $5,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $500.
