Baltimore woman, Potomac man celebrate Lottery luck
The New Year is off to a promising start for two lucky Powerball players who bought quick-pick tickets during the recent jackpot roll. Congratulations to a Baltimore woman who scored a $50,000 prize in the Dec. 27 drawing and a Potomac resident who won $1,000,004 in the Jan. 5 drawing.
Our $50,000 winner, a 39-year-old, purchased her $2 ticket on Dec. 27 at Wine World located at 406-A Constant Friendship Boulevard in Abingdon. The $1,000,004 winner, a 53-year-old man, visited E&C Mid Atlantic #709 (Shell convenience store and gas station) located at 700 Gaither Road in Rockville. After purchasing one $10 ticket, he starts 2022 as a millionaire.
In addition to enjoying increased Powerball sales during the jackpot run, one of the two retailers earns a bonus from the Lottery for selling a second-tier winning ticket. E&C Mid Atlantic #709 received a $2,500 bonus for its role.
