Vietnam Veteran from Windsor Mill Wins $60,438.10 on Racetrax

“Vietnam Veteran,” of Windsor Mill, started to play Racetrax relatively recently, and ended up winning more than $60,000.

A Vietnam Veteran is a newcomer to Racetrax and he took home a $60,428.10 prize only a few weeks after starting to play the computer-animated horse racing game.

The Windsor Mill man, who is using the alias “Vietnam Veteran,” was a traditional Pick 3 and Pick 4 player before adding Racetrax to his routine.

He saw other players taking part in Racetrax and wanted to jump in on the fun.

“Vietnam Veteran” was playing lower numbers and winning small prizes when he started. In Racetrax, the lower the horse’s number, the better its odds of winning, but the lower the payout. A man at the store where he was playing suggested betting on the high number horses, as the odds of winning decrease, but the prize amounts increase.

On June 15, “Vietnam Veteran” placed a 10-cent Superfecta boxed bet on the long odds horses 9, 10, 11, and 12. He played for 20 races in a row, for a total ticket cost of $91. When he checked his ticket after the race, he was surprised to see he had won $60,428.10.

“The first time I played those numbers, I won,” he said with a smile.

The retired government worker said he came into some money a few years ago and gave it to his church and family. This time he wants to use his prize to buy himself a car.

The Baltimore County resident is the second Vietnam Veteran to claim a prize in the past week. A Baltimore City veteran won $57,777 on a Lucky 7s Tripler scratch-off on June 12.

“Vietnam Veteran” was proud that he and the Baltimore City veteran were both winners and wished luck to the other Vietnam Veterans that play.

“I feel like it is our time to win,” he said.

He bought the winning ticket at Billiard Plus at 8140 Liberty Road in Windsor Mill. The business receives a bonus of $604.28.
