$100,000 Ravens X5 Scratch-off Win Astonishes Retiree

A $100,000 windfall seemed “unbelievable” to this Temple Hills resident.

Finding top prize on $5 game seemed ‘unbelievable’

The Baltimore Ravens didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year but that didn’t stop a loyal Lottery scratch-off player from trying her luck with a Ravens X5 instant ticket.

While not a diehard Baltimore Ravens fan, the Temple Hills resident said she does enjoy playing the football-themed Ravens X5 scratch-off. “I buy them all the time,” said the anonymous woman, who nicknamed herself “Lucky Lady” to tell her winning story.

The retired federal worker bought the $5 game and several other scratch-offs at Padgett’s Corner Sunoco in Prince George’s County. Following her routine, “Lucky Lady” took the tickets home to play. A few other scratch-offs she bought on what proved to be her lucky day hadn’t delivered a win when she turned her attention to the Ravens X5 game.

“It was the last card that I scratched and the last number on the card,” she said. Sure enough, “Lucky Lady” matched the winning number of 21 in the very last row and the very last block on the scratch-off. Then, she revealed the prize and saw $100,000.

“I sat down,” she said. “I was like, ‘This is unbelievable.’”

She hasn’t told anyone about her Lottery luck except the person who accompanied her to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim her prize. The grandmother of one is still considering plans for her windfall and will put her newfound fortune in the bank for now.

Her lucky Lottery retailer is also a winner. For selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, Padgett’s Corner Sunoco located at 7096 Allentown Road in Temple Hills will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. This is the fourth out of seven top prizes to be claimed in the game, which went on sale in August. There are also still five unclaimed $10,000 prizes and many others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
