$150,000 Pick 5 Win Paves Way for New Driveway in Temple Hills

A Temple Hills Lottery winner hasn’t given it a whole lot of thought, but he knows one project he’ll address with his $150,000 Pick 5 prize: a new driveway.

Though he was excited after claiming his winnings Dec. 15 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, the player said he mainly is concerned about keeping a low profile. Only he and his wife, who accompanied him, are in on the win. And they’re looking to keep it that way.

A Lottery player for decades, he says he’s won interesting prizes over the years – including as much as $14,000 on one occasion – but nothing to match what happened when he bought three $1 Pick 5 tickets with the same straight bet combination 25170 for the Dec. 12 evening drawing. Those were the numbers drawn, making each ticket worth $50,000.

“I’ve won a couple of times but nothing this big,” he said.

He bought the winning tickets at the Shoppers grocery store at 6300 Coventry Way in Clinton, which receives a $500 bonus for each of the $50,000 winning tickets sold, totaling $1,500.
