A Maryland Lottery player in the Silver Spring area is holding a ticket worth $4 million after last night’s Mega Millions drawing, and a player in Illinois hit the game’s $533 million jackpot.
The $4 million winner was purchased at the Giant Foods store at 13490 New Hampshire Avenue in Colesville. The Montgomery County retailer will receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the second-tier winner.
The winning numbers for the March 10 Mega Millions drawing are: 16, 21, 30, 35 and 65 with a Mega Ball of 7. The player with the $4 million ticket matched all of the first five balls drawn, but not the Mega Ball. The base prize for such a win is $1 million but the player’s ticket had an automatic X4 multiplier, boosting the ticket’s value to $4 million.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing. The last date to claim scratch-offs is listed on the game’s tile on the scratch-off page.
Instructions for claiming prizes are available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website. Prizes of more than $25,000 must be claimed through Lottery headquarters, either in person or by mail. Lottery headquarters is in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330, in Baltimore. An appointment is required to claim in person (no walk-ins). The appointment scheduling page shows all available appointment times.
