$50,000 Powerball Prize Sends Annapolis Woman to Europe

An Annapolis woman is going to Europe after she won a third-tier prize from the May 6 Powerball drawing.

She matched four of the five numbers along with the Powerball for the $50,000 prize. The loyal player thought she had only three of the five numbers with the Powerball and was expecting a $100 prize.

When the Anne Arundel County resident took the ticket to a store clerk for confirmation, she received news that the ticket was worth $50,000.

According to the retired banker, she purchased a quick pick Powerball ticket years ago and decided to keep playing those numbers. She said she plans to continue playing those lucky numbers with the hopes of winning the jackpot.

“I missed it by one number, but I’m still happy,” she said.

The winner is using the prize to visit family in Europe this summer.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dash In, located at 2575 Riva Road in Annapolis. The Anne Arundel County retailer is a hot spot for Powerball winners as a Tennessee man won a $100,000 winner prize at the same store on the Dec. 24 drawing.
