$500,000 Scratch-off Win Kicks off House Hunting for Hyattsville Mom

Finds her top-prize win on Bonus Bingo X20 game

A loyal scratch-off player from Hyattsville who prefers bingo-themed games is still in shock over her $500,000 top-prize win on a Bonus Bingo X20 game. The $20 instant ticket just gave her the biggest Lottery prize of her life!

The happy woman, who is remaining anonymous, shared her winning story with translation assistance by her adult son. She was following her routine on the day of her big win. She visited Quick Stop Food Mart in Bladensburg where she bought the lucky scratch-off and then took it to a nearby restaurant to play while waiting for her food. The winner typically returns to the store to scan the prize check area on her tickets to confirm any prize she thinks she discovered.

Having played bingo-themed scratch-offs for decades, the 60-year-old has won small prizes before as well as two big prizes at the $500 and $1,000 level. “She plays as a hobby, as a way to relax,” her son said.

On the day of her $500,000 win, she returned to Quick Stop Food Mart and asked the clerk to scan the instant ticket for her. The clerk shared the great news of her good fortune, printed out proof of her prize and gave her the Lottery’s phone number to call to find out what to do next.

The winner immediately phoned her son at work. “She didn’t want to tell me on the phone,” he said, “so she told me ‘I’m not feeling well. Come pick me up.’” He left work and was floored when she got in the car and showed him the scratch-off and the printout proving she won.

The happy winner plans to buy a house with her prize.

The fun doesn’t end with the big win for her Lottery retailer. Quick Stop Food Mart located at 5700 Emerson Street in Prince George’s County will earn a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $500,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

The Bonus Bingo X20 game went on sale in August 2020 with eight $500,000 top prizes along with seven $50,000 prizes and 140 $10,000 prizes. It is one of five bingo-themed scratch-offs currently available at the $3, $5, $10 and $20 price points.
