Novice Racetrax Player Wins $54,140 in Oxon Hill

A man of few words from Washington, D.C., claimed a $54,140 prize June 3 on the Maryland Lottery game Racetrax, after having won May 30 while playing in Oxon Hill.

He said he hadn’t played any Maryland Lottery games previously and a friend showed him how to play Racetrax. He played horses 1, 11, 7, 8 in a Superfecta box bet configuration for four races, betting a total of $14.

The ticket typically would have cost $16, but the Maryland Lottery has a $6 for $5 promotion on Racetrax, so he received a $2 discount when he bought the ticket. The promotion runs through June 22.

The winning ticket was purchased at Eastover Liquors, 4909 Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill. The store receives a bonus of $541.40, equal to 1% of the prize value.
