Powerball Grows to $1.1 Billion; Six Tickets Worth $50K or More Sold in Maryland

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb since withno jackpot winner in last night’s drawing. Five winning tickets worth $50,000 each were sold in College Park, Elkridge, Forestville, Severn and Stevensville, while one winner took home a $150,000 prize in Swanton (Garrett County).

The winning numbers for the Aug. 30 drawing are: 3, 18, 22, 27, 33; the Powerball is 17. All winners matched four of the first five balls plus the Powerball for the third-tier prize.

The $150,000 winner added the Power Play option while purchasing the ticket which multiplied the $50,000 X3. That ticket was purchased at Deep Creek Grocery Gas & Liquor at 3562 Swanton Road in Swanton.

The $50,000 winning tickets were purchased at the following locations:

  • Mundo Market, 5000 Edgewood Road, College Park (Prince George’s County)
  • Howard Wine & Spirits, 7700 Hearthside Way, Elkridge (Howard County)
  • Shell, 3617 Forestville Road, Forestville (Prince George’s County)
  • 7-Eleven, 500 Donaldson Avenue, Severn (Anne Arundel County)
  • Shore Stop, 201 Romancoke Road, Stevesville (Queen Anne’s County)

The Powerball jackpot increased to an estimated annuity value of $1.1 billion for Labor Day, making it the game’s fifth-largest prize ever. The estimated cash option is $498.4 million.

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Both the Powerball and Double Play drawings have nine different prize tiers, with Powerball ranging from $4 up to the jackpot and Double Play ranging from $7 up to $10 million.

Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing date.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
