Glen Burnie Fisherman Reels in a Big Scratch-off Prize of $100,000

Fishing season may be fading faster than daylight on an autumn evening, but a Glen Burnie fisherman is in the holiday spirit after having reeled in a $100,000 prize on the new Silver Bell Bucks scratch-off.

Like many loyal scratch-off players, he scratches off the numbers without revealing the associated prizes. Then he checks his numbers against the winning numbers and scratches the prize amount only after he has a match.

The big winner started to scratched the first line and saw a match that was a $10,000 winner. He immediately stopped scratching. He knew he had nine more winning numbers on the ticket, but wasn’t aware of the prize amounts.

“I didn’t scratch the rest of it until I got home,” he said.

When he got into the comfort of his own home, he found he had more winning in store. Every one of his 10 winning numbers had a $10,000 prize to give him a total win of $100,000.

“After I won, I said, ‘Time to drink a beer’,” the Anne Arundel County resident said.

The construction worker, who is fond of fishing in his spare time, plans on using his prize money to pay for home improvement projects.

The hot ticket was purchased at Honey Bee Liquors at 7509 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. The retailer receives a $1,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

The $10 Silver Bell Bucks game is one of six Holiday scratch-offs that went on sale on Oct. 17. The game started with five top-prizes of $100,000. The Glen Burnie man is the first to claim a top tier winner, leaving four $100,000 tickets out in the wild, along with tens of thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.

Players can enter non-winning Holiday scratch-offs and winning and non-winning Holiday FAST PLAY tickets into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win from $5,000 to $50,000 in cash or one of six Cash and Dash Shopping Sprees. There will be 47 second-chance winners in all.
