Severn Mom Claims $150,000 of $500,000 Pick 5 Prize

Husband and wife “Robert and Roberta” celebrate after claiming $150,000 of a $500,000 win that came thanks to “Roberta’s” purchase of 10 Pick 5 tickets with the same combination on each one.

After collecting a $50,000 Pick 5 top prize in January of 2024, a woman from Severn started playing 10 tickets at a time with the same combination of numbers. Two and a half years later, on Oct. 9, she was back at Lottery headquarters to claim a big prize after hitting the Pick 5 evening numbers on Sept. 27 – times 10. Each top prize ticket awards $50,000, bringing her total this time to $500,000.

“She is the luckiest,” the woman’s daughter said.

The winner and her husband, who are using the alias “Robert and Roberta”, gifted one of the winning tickets to her daughter, who joined them at Lottery headquarters. In addition to the one ticket claimed by their daughter, “Roberta” claimed three others.

“There are six more at home,” Roberta said, confirming that, for tax purposes, it is better for her to claim some in 2026 and some in 2027.

Family figures prominently in Roberta’s Lottery playing. When she claimed back in January of 2024, it was a dream about her father that inspired her to play numbers associated with his birth date.

For her recent 10-ticket win, she selected a different combination.

With her $50,000 share, the daughter said she is looking towards the future and will put most of into a retirement account, while settling some debt and taking a trip “as a present to myself.”

“Roberta,” meanwhile, plans to put most of her money in savings, but will also be sharing with family.

And she plans to continue playing the Lottery, she said, adding, “Hopefully I’ll win again.”

But there’s also the matter of those tickets stashed away until the new year.

“We’ll be back!” “Roberta” said.

She bought all 10 tickets at Exxon at the Mills at 7671 Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover, which receives bonuses totaling $5,000.
