Middle River Woman’s Love of Numbers Leads to $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Win

A Baltimore County woman who says “numbers are my life” visited Maryland Lottery headquarters with a Bonus Match 5 ticket in hand featuring a collection of digits, including a line that won her the game’s $50,000 top prize.

“I see numbers everywhere,” the retired federal employee said Dec. 29 after claiming her winnings. “Numbers by themselves, series of them – everywhere I look.”

She frequently studies past winning number combinations for Bonus Match 5 as well as similar games from other states, and numbers just pop out for her. Over the years she has taken to carrying a notepad with her to record them.

“It’s been like this my whole life,” she said.

Her fascination with numbers led her to playing the Lottery as a pastime.

“For some reason, the numbers and combinations that come to me have worked best with Bonus Match 5, so that’s what I play,” the Middle River resident said, adding she’s had years of fun trying to predict the nightly game’s results.

“I’ve won plenty of times these last years, but this is my biggest ever.”

Her reaction when she checked the winning Bonus Match 5 numbers for Dec. 23? “I said to myself, ‘It finally worked!’”

The $50,000 winner was purchased at Compass Beer Pump at 3 Compass Road in Middle River. The business receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
