Annapolis Man’s Mistake Gives Him Two $25,000 Pick 5 Prizes

A lucky Annapolis resident made a mistake that delivered not one, but two $25,000 Pick 5 prizes.

Wins big in June 18 Evening Drawing by playing his birthdate

When he decided to play Pick 5 on June 18, a lucky Anne Arundel County resident didn’t mean to buy two tickets for the same drawing using the same number. His error, however, had the Annapolis man smiling from ear to ear on June 22 as he claimed the second of his two $25,000 prizes at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The happy winner, going by the nickname “Annapolis Man,” planned to play his birthdate when he visited 7-Eleven #33378 in Annapolis on June 18. The 39-year-old mistakenly bought not one but two 50-cent straight tickets for the evening drawing with the number 72782.

“Annapolis Man” went to bed Saturday night without checking his tickets for a win but scanned them the next day at a gas station. “I found out I won on Father’s Day,” said the truck driver. The first ticket was redeemed at Live! Casino & Hotel in Hanover, and proceeds from both winning tickets are going into his bank account.

The double win also benefits the Lottery retailer. The lucky 7-Eleven located at 710 Bestgate Road in Annapolis earns $500 in bonus payments from the Lottery — $250 for each winning ticket.
