Annapolis Woman Wins Back to the Future Second-Chance Prize

Cora Long of Annapolis is the first $2,025 winner on the Back to the Future Second-Chance Promotion.

Cora Long felt like a time traveler as she traveled through the Maryland Lottery’s Claims Center and Winners’ Circle after winning a $2,025 second-chance prize. The Annapolis resident is the first $2,025 Back to the Future Second-Chance Promotion winner. The Maryland Lottery introduced the $2 scratch-off in March to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures’ hit film, Back to the Future.

According to the loyal player, she was driving her car when she received a call that she was a winner.

“I was shocked and excited,” Cora said laughing. “I had to pull over.”

The Baltimore City worker said she is a fan of the hit film, and said she was 15 years old when the movie debuted. Now she enjoys playing the Back to the Future scratch-off.

“I like when I get the ‘1955’ symbol,” she said referring to the symbol that means a player automatically receives the prize next to the symbol.

The happy winner plans to use most of the $2,025 prize to pay bills, but will save some of the rest to treat herself.

Cora likes to bowl, play cards and work on crafts. She describes herself as a person with good luck as she recently won on a Pick 3 drawing.

“Sometimes I can feel it or I have a dream that I won,” Cora explained about her winning luck.

Back to the Future scratch-offs went on sale March 24. There are still more five $10,000 instant top prizes on the ticket, along with numerous prizes ranging from $2 to $5,000.

Players can enter all non-winning Back to the Future scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards to automatically receive entries into the second-chance promotion, in addition to progress toward achievements. The promotion runs through July 14, with three drawings remaining (June 3, June 24 and July 15). The second-chance prizes correlate with important dates and numbers within the movie.
