A husband and wife from Baltimore claimed their biggest prize ever Jan. 14 at Lottery headquarters: a $50,000 Pick 5 win.
Although she was the one claiming the prize from the Jan. 8 drawing, the wife said, “He’s the one who won.”
Without missing a beat, he continued: “Since we’re married, I just gave it to her.”
Then she picked up the thought, concluding with, “It all comes to me anyway.”
The two both enjoy playing Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5, and they’ve won smaller amounts in the past. In fact, they played the same combination that gave them the $50,000 win in a boxed configuration for the Jan. 8 drawings and cashed out those winners prior to claiming the big prize.
As for what they’ll be doing with the money, the husband said: “Fix up the house a little bit, pay some minor bills. Maybe we’ll go to lunch on the way home.”
He said they particularly enjoy Pick 5 because he likes the odds for winning a prize at the $50,000 level.
“It’s not going to change your life, but it’ll help you out,” he said.
As a result, he had tickets in his pocket for upcoming drawings.
“I’m hopeful we’ll see you again soon,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Redner’s Wholesale Market at 7938 Eastern Avenue in Baltimore, and the store receives a $50,000 bonus.
