A Baltimore City Lottery enthusiast, who’s particularly fond of Bonus Match 5, picked up a nine gameboard ticket in May and is celebrating a $50,400 payday after claiming his prize on July 31.
He bought his ticket at Belvedere Plaza Liquors at 5658 The Alameda in Baltimore. Out of the nine combinations he got for $6 on his one-draw ticket, three of them were quick picks. The rest were special numbers comprised of birthdates.
Later that evening when he checked his numbers, the quick picks proved to be busts, while one of the birthday numbers matched all of the first five numbers drawn for a top tier $50,000 win. Then he matched four of five numbers on a second birthday line and added $400 to the total.
He immediately shared the great news with his wife.
The winner is semi-retired from the State of Maryland, having left one state agency and taken up a second gig at a different agency 15 years ago.
When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time watching sports. He plans to use put his winnings in savings.
Belvedere Plaza Liquors will collect a $500 bonus for selling the winning Bonus Match 5 ticket.
