Baltimore Man Claims $100,000 Top Prize on 50X the Cash Scratch-Off

A Baltimore man was a relative Lottery novice, playing mainly $1 scratch-offs, until a co-worker suggested he try his with higher price point games. Heeding that advice, he purchased $50 worth of scratch-offs with two of them being $10 50X the Cash tickets.

And one of those two ended up being a $100,000 top prize winner.

After getting a haircut one day, the winner made a stop at Travel Centers of America at 7401 Assateague Drive in Jessup and bought his tickets. Later, while on break at work as a corrections officer, he decided to scratch his tickets and one of them 10X symbol over a $10,000 prize, resulting in the $100,000 win.

He wasn’t completely sold on what he saw, so he scanned his ticket three times using the Maryland Lottery app, which convinced him this win was real. After jumping up and down in excitement, he called his mother to share the news.

The 26-year veteran Maryland Correctional officer says he enjoys traveling. Besides putting it all in savings, he’s going to use his winnings to take a few travel vacations.

Travel Centers of America receives $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning scratch-off.

The $10 ticket that launched on January 9 is a part of the X the Cash family of games that offers players fun, bright scratch-offs ranging from $1 to $30. Players can enter non-winning tickets for the chance to win cash prizes up to $75,000. The first drawing will be on February 17.
