Baltimore Man Trusts His Gut, Wins $150,000 Pick 5 Prize

It’s a number he plays regularly, a Baltimore man told Lottery officials about the Pick 5 combination that produced his $150,000 win on June 23. What made his purchase that day different from other times he’s played 33031 is that he bought more than one ticket with the same number, something he’s never done before.

“The number has a strong connection to a close family member,” the real estate investor explained. “It’s been lucky for me in the past, so I wasn’t surprised to see familiar numbers.  But the whole number, and in the right order? That was the shocker.”

When he visited Village Liquors that day to buy his Lottery tickets, an odd feeling came over him. “It was weird, but not in a bad way. I felt really good about my numbers, in a way that I’d never felt before.” Believing the unusual experience meant something special, the Baltimore man bought three tickets instead of the single ticket that had been his routine.

His Lottery app delivered the news of his good fortune later that evening. “My family was there with me, so it was quite a scene.”

The three $50,000 top-prize winning tickets were purchased from Village Liquors at 4220 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore. The city retailer earned a $1,500 bonus from the Lottery – $500 for each of the winning tickets.
