Baltimore Powerball Jackpot Chaser Wins $50,000 Third-Tier Prize

Recent retiree putting prize in bank

A Maryland Lottery player from Baltimore won $50,000 in the May 7 Powerball drawing on a lucky quick-pick ticket, coming close to winning a $1 million prize or the $51 million jackpot.

“A million would have been better, but this is still good,” said our anonymous winner.

The 77-year-old was in great spirits when he came to Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. The retiree plans to put his winnings in the bank. The lucky ticket, which he purchased at 7-Eleven #26253 located at 7901 Wise Avenue in Baltimore, matched four numbers and the Powerball for the $50,000 payday.

He was one of 20 players nationwide to claim a third-tier prize in the drawing. The jackpot has continued to roll and is set at an estimated $68 million for the Wednesday, May 11 drawing, with an estimated cash value of $39 million.
