Beginner’s Luck and Fatherly Advice Lead to $43,210 Racetrax Win

A Millersville woman is celebrating a $43,210 Racetrax win after taking a chance on a hunch, along with a little encouragement from her father.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, visited Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on June 11 to claim her prize. She was joined by her son and father, and she credits her father as a key player in her win.

“I rarely play the Lottery,” she admitted. “But when I feel lucky, I’ll grab a ticket.” Lately, her father has been on a Racetrax winning streak and encouraged her to give the game a shot.

That advice came at just the right time. After work on June 7, she stopped by The Spot Pizzeria and Deli at 1101 Saint Paul Street in Baltimore to pick up some food before heading home. While waiting for her order, she decided to play Racetrax.

The next day, she handed the ticket to her father, who scanned it using the Maryland Lottery app.

“I was shocked and excited reading that I won,” she said. “My stomach dropped. I’ve never won before. It’s a really cool feeling.”

When asked how she plans to spend her winnings, the Millersville mother said she hasn’t made any decisions yet. “I’ll figure it out once the money’s in my hands,” she said with a smile.

As for her Lottery future, she plans to keep playing but only when she’s “feeling lucky,” or when her dad gives her the green light.

The retailer that sold the winning ticket will also enjoy a win of its own: a $432.10 bonus from the Maryland Lottery equal to 1% of the prize amount.
