Birthday Proves Lucky for Baltimore County Man

Long-time Keno player wins $30,000

He plays a specific sequence of numbers just once each year, a Baltimore County man told Lottery officials on Tuesday. That day is his birthday and that Keno combination, which includes numbers connected to his birthday, finally came through for him – and in a big way.

“This can’t be,” he told himself when watching the numbers pop up. “I played these numbers for sentimental reasons. I never, ever thought any of them would come out on my birthday.  They just never do!”

The mechanic has played Keno for years with pretty good results, having enjoyed a $12,000 win a few years ago. “I win often enough that I expect to see some of my numbers every time I play,” he said. “But I didn’t expect anything with these numbers. A real shocker.”

Our winner bought his 5-spot Keno ticket good for four games from High’s at 19200 Middletown Road in Parkton. Later that evening, as the birthday celebration with his girlfriend was winding down, he decided to watch the games on his Lottery mobile app.

“When that last number came out, I was sure that something was wrong. I figured I was watching the wrong game number.” He double-checked the ticket and winning numbers and finally accepted what had happened.

“The birthday party got a second wind after that,” the loyal player assured Lottery officials.

Management at the Parkton High’s will receive a $300 Lottery bonus for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more. The player plans to use his $30,000 prize to pay bills.
