He’s a regular player, a Baltimore resident said on Sept. 9 when he claimed his $50,000 prize on one of two or three tickets he had purchased. Typically, his tickets consist of one of the daily Pick games or scratch-offs. What you wouldn’t find in his Lottery collection, at least until mid-August, was a Bonus Match 5 ticket, he said.
“I started playing Bonus Match 5 last month after never having tried it before,” the fiber optics technician said. “I started winning almost immediately – small stuff, of course.”
While he enjoyed the $400 prize and several $30 wins his new game sent his way, they in no way prepared him for the top-prize he won on Aug. 19.
“When I saw the matching numbers and the prize, I was sure that I’d missed something. There’s no way it could be true.”
Charitable donations and boosting his savings account will be at the top of the winner’s list for his $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize. “I prayed about this, before and after I won. This money will do a lot of good for my family and other people in need.”
It was a family visit that put the winner in the right place to find his good fortune. The Walmart at 6405 Dobbin Road in Columbia sold him the top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, earning a $500 bonus for the Howard County business.
