A fan of Racetrax for many years, a Brooklyn Park man has had success with the game in the past playing superfecta box bets, where four horses are chosen to finish in any of the first four spots. He was not as successful with the trifecta box bet – until Jan. 25 when he won $46,318.50.
“I feel that I can pick four horses more often than three. I’m working on getting that down,” he said, realistically adding, “It’s purely luck.”
For his big win, he picked horses 10, 11, and 12, which have the longest odds but the best payoff, to finish in the first three spots. The trifecta box bet wins when the horses you select finish in the first three spots, in any order.
The player, who had taken a break to play on the day he won from his snow plowing responsibilities, says he has a plan for his winnings.
“I’ve got two daughters and I’m going to treat them to something special,” he said.
He’ll be keeping some for himself, also, and paying off bills with a portion of the proceeds.
Sharing in the win is the Royal Farms store at 7908 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, where the winning ticket was purchased. The store receives a bonus of $463.18.
