A Caroline County woman plays Maryland Lottery games quite frequently, and is particularly fond of new scratch-off games when they first hit the stores. Recently, she was drawn to the Gold Bar Bingo game, which was released July 18, and decided to try her luck. Consequently, she won the game’s first $50,000 top prize.
The $5 game features four bingo cards and she was able to match the caller’s numbers with numbers on one of the cards to form an X, resulting in her top tier win.
After claiming her prize July 23 at Lottery headquarters, the winner said she was very happy about the windfall, but, in the short term, her only plan was to square up her finances.
She bought her $5 ticket at the Shell gas station at 1101 Shore Highway in Denton. The store receives a bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize total.
Gold Bar Bingo began with eight top prizes and the win in Denton leaves seven unclaimed, as well as 10 at the $10,000 level and tens of thousands of others at lower tiers.
