A Carroll County man and his girlfriend show off their 35 Oriole jerseys in honor of 35 being the number that won a $97,840 progressive jackpot.
Lucky number 35 turned Home Run Riches Bases Loaded ticket into a winner
A Carroll County Orioles fan loved the Home Run Riches second-chance promotion, which selected Contestants of the Game to receive $500 for selection and $500 for every Oriole home run. He was hoping for selection this year with the chance to win a few thousand dollars. Instead, he won a $97,840 progressive jackpot on the FAST PLAY Home Run Riches Bases Loaded ticket used to enter the concluded promotion.
“I didn’t know what to say, think or do in the first couple of hours,” the excited player told Lottery officials.
The anonymous winner, who is using the alias “Keldon Franklin,” said he purchased the ticket at High’s in Sykesville but did not want to look at it until he got home. He and his girlfriend like to look at all the “Winning Numbers” on tickets together and then they look down at “Your Numbers” trying to find a match.
“He got to 35 before I did and yelled ‘Progressive!’” his girlfriend recalled.
“Keldon Franklin” is a true Orioles fan and has gone to the team’s games since they played at Memorial Stadium. The business owner and his girlfriend wore Adley Rutschman Orioles 35 jerseys to Lottery headquarters to match the player’s winning number. “Keldon Franklin” said it is appropriate the number 35 won.
“Five is my lucky number. I like anything with the number 5. I’m a huge fan of Brooks Robinson (who wore #5).” The winner plans to put his windfall into the bank.
The Sykesville High’s located at 6700 Sykesville Road can also take its win to the bank. The Carroll County retailer receives a $978.40 Lottery bonus for selling the FAST PLAY progressive jackpot-winning ticket.
There are still 10 unclaimed progressive jackpot-winning Home Run Riches Bases Loaded tickets waiting for discovery. The game’s progressive jackpot starts at $40,000 and rises with the sale of each $5 ticket until a progressive jackpot-winning ticket is sold.
