A Carroll County woman thought she received an error message when she scanned her Lottery ticket and saw, “Go To Lottery.” A short time later, however, she was all smiles because she discovered the message was an indication she’d won big: $210,744 on the $10 FAST PLAY game Platinum Payout.
“I thought it was a bad ticket. Then I decided to look it over,” she said Sept. 14 after claiming her winnings at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The winner initially didn’t have time for the retailer to scan the ticket, so she placed it amongst her belongings and went straight to work, planning to check it over later on. When she checked her ticket more carefully, she instantly spotted that the Progressive Jackpot symbol matched with one of her numbers for the jackpot win.
She was able to contain her excitement at work, but decided to text her family about the win.
The winner, an animal service worker, is a loyal scratch-off player, but had some extra cash to purchase the FAST PLAY ticket.
“I just had $10 left and wanted to buy something,” she said.
The Carroll County resident was a winner on the same day as the birthday of a few of her relatives. And she’s been on a hot streak, having recently won $400 from a neighboring state lottery.
She is undecided on how to spend the prize, but said it will probably go towards a vacation since she loves to travel.
The winning ticket was sold at High’s convenience store at 12780 Frederick Road in West Friendship. For selling the winner, the Howard County retailer picks up a bonus of $1,000.
The FAST PLAY Platinum Payout game started on April 6 and has 10 progressive jackpots remaining after this win. Each time the jackpot is hit, it resets to $75,000 and grows with every ticket sold.
