Coffee Run Leads Baltimore Woman to Scratch-off Gold

Lucky winner claims $50,000 prize on Gold X50 instant ticket

A Pasadena woman who was scheduled to see her dentist one day had her husband drive her to her appointment. To thank her husband, she bought him a cup of coffee afterward and added a scratch-off for herself.

Little did she know that it wouldn’t be just the coffee giving the couple a belated burst of energy. They received quite the jolt after winning a $50,000 second-tier prize on the new Gold X50 instant ticket.

The 70-year-old bought the hot java at Royal Farms #183 located at 8551 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena. Knowing the Gold X50 game was new, she also bought one scratch-off from the store’s self-serve Lottery vending machine.

The lucky wife scratched off her $10 instant ticket once she got home but didn’t realize Lottery luck had come her way. After returning from another appointment later that day, the Anne Arundel County resident took another look at the scratch-off. She picked the instant ticket up from her coffee table, checked it again and discovered her $50,000 second-tier win.

She quickly shared her happy news with her husband and family. They plan to use the winnings to donate to their church, pay bills and boost their savings.

The Gold X50 game debuted in January with 10 $100,000 top prizes and is a member of a Gold Multiplier family of games and the Gold Multiplier second-chance promotion. This win is the second $50,000 second-tier prize claimed. Other members of the Gold Multiplier scratch-off family are the $1 Gold X5, $2 Gold X10 and $5 Gold X20 games.
