Scratch-off Newcomer Beholds $50,000 Gold X20 Game’s Top Prize

Baltimore County woman sees win as a blessing

She’s been around scratch-offs for years, a Baltimore-area resident told Lottery officials, but had never developed an interest in playing them until recently. Instant tickets just weren’t her game despite managing a grocery that sells Lottery games and seeing plenty of winners in her time there.

“Hey, people’s interests change,” she joked, when asked what made her start scratching instant tickets in recent weeks. Her decision to try the popular games proved to be a good one when a $5 Gold X20 instant ticket gave her a $50,000 prize that set her head spinning. “I’ve literally only been playing these things for two weeks, and this happens!”

The lucky lady chose the top-prize winning instant ticket when checking out the selection at a Royal Farms store on Reisterstown Road. The Gold X20 game, which went on sale last month, is the fifth most popular scratch-off in stores according to the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-offs list.

“I was on the way home and had to stop for something there,” she said. “I saw the Lottery sign and realized that I hadn’t bought a ticket that week, so I did.”

The $50,000 prize was a welcome surprise to the Baltimore County woman. “My life is very busy right now, lots of stuff going on with my family. The timing couldn’t be better. This is such a blessing.”

The Gold X20 game debuted with three other Gold Multiplier instant tickets and is part of the Gold Multiplier Second-chance Promotion. This win leaves six $50,000 prizes available. Other members of the Gold Multiplier scratch-off family are the $1 Gold X5, $2 Gold X10 and $10 Gold X50 games.

Our lucky winner found her share of the gold at Royal Farms #180, which is located at 11510 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills. For its role in selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the store will earn a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
