Daughter Joins Dad in Lottery Play, Scores $100,000 Prize

Beltsville woman wins top prize on Bonus Buck$ scratch-off

He plays Racetrax and she prefers scratch-offs but this winning father-daughter team do agree on one thing: their favorite Lottery retailer.

Hyattsville Convenience Store in Prince George’s County is their favorite place to play their respective games and sometimes, they go together with her mom in tow for some family Lottery fun. The Beltsville daughter was visiting the business recently to buy scratch-offs when a customer ahead of her bought two of the $10 Bonus Buck$ scratch-offs.

“I said, ‘Let me have two,’” the entrepreneur recalled, and then went to scratch them off. “I said, ‘Let’s see, and … boom! We actually thought it was $100.” When she asked the clerk to cash in the winning instant ticket, however, her error became apparent. The Prince George’s County resident had missed three zeros in her prize amount!

The happy winner, a store owner, has no immediate plans for her windfall other than putting the funds into the bank. This is the largest prize she has ever won, she said, seated in the Lottery Winner’s Circle with her dad by her side. The lucky lady has won smaller amounts on scratch-offs and Racetrax tickets “with his help in picking the numbers,” she said.

Their favorite retailer also benefits because it sold a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off. The Lottery will give a $1,000 bonus to Hyattsville Convenience Store located at 2230 University Boulevard in Hyattsville.

As for the Bonus Buck$ game, this popular scratch-off went on sale this summer with eight top prizes; six remain along with 10 $10,000 prizes and 21 $5,000 prizes.
