Demolition Man Knocks Down Scratch-off’s First Top Prize

Prince George’s County resident wins $100,000

A Glenn Dale man who tried his luck playing the Bingo X10 7th Edition scratch-off enjoyed a big win worthy of a celebration. The demolition company employee knocked down the first $100,000 top prize in the $10 game.

The anonymous player claimed the prize with his wife and shared the story of his fortunate winning day with Lottery officials.

The Prince George’s County resident, who’s a huge fan of scratch-off games, stopped at Anna’s Deli Plus in Montgomery County to indulge in one of his favorite pastimes. He played several games, choosing two at a time at random that day, including the Bingo X10 7th Edition scratch-off. The big winner typically scratches off the prize check area on his instant tickets and scans them for a win, which is how he discovered his Lottery luck.

“I was down to the last two that I purchased,” said the winner. “When I scanned the very last one, it showed a $100,000 win. I was blown away.”

The husband, still a little shocked, took a picture of his winning instant ticket and texted the photo to his wife. Ironically, she was playing bingo at the time.

“He called me and asked if I received his text message,” recalled the wife. “When I saw the winning ticket, I thought he was playing with me.”

The couple shared the great news with immediate family members before claiming the $100,000 prize. The winner said he plans to pay bills with his windfall, spend some of the funds on his wife and kids and put the rest into savings.

Although the happy player is the first to claim the game’s $100,000 top prize, he won’t be the last. There are five top prizes remaining. Also up for grabs are 20 $10,000 prizes and nearly 875,000 others ranging from $10 to $1,000. The popular bingo-themed scratch-off went on sale March 18.

Also a winner is the Lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket. Anna’s Deli Plus, located at 11512 Middlebrook Road in Germantown earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
