Dream Inspires Teacher’s Pick 5 Number Picks, Leads to $50,000 Win

Anne Arundel County woman claims game’s top prize

She buys Lottery tickets frequently, a teacher from Severn said, always following a pattern that has brought her plenty of wins over the years. When it comes to selecting numbers to play, she has the Lottery terminal pick them at random. However, a dream caused her to change this method last month, and that change delivered a $50,000 Pick 5 surprise.

“It was my Dad,” the Pick 5 fan explained. “I dreamed about him the night before. There was nothing in the dream about the Lottery, but it was such a memorable thing that it stuck with me the next day.”

Her activities on Dec. 16 included a visit to a nearby Walmart. “When I was choosing my Pick 5 numbers for that night, a combination based on his birthday popped into my head.” That’s all it took, she said — that dream about her late father.

When she learned via her Lottery app that her dream-inspired combination of 12930 had “come true,” the Anne Arundel County resident recalls that her knees started shaking.

“When I walked into the living room to tell my husband, he asked me why I was crying. He was worried that something terrible had happened.” Her quick explanation launched a celebration in the house. “It was wonderful, but I was so excited that I got no sleep that night.”

The couple plan to erase several family debts with the Pick 5 winnings, and share the remainder of the funds with their family. They also plan to continue purchasing Lottery tickets from Walmart #1875 at 407 George Clauss Boulevard in Severn. Their lucky Anne Arundel County Lottery retailer receives a $500 bonus for selling the $50,000 winning ticket.
