Thanksgiving Weekend Purchase Makes Sykesville Man $100,000 Richer

Wins on FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier ticket

A lucky Carroll County man who played fast and won fast with a FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier ticket took his time claiming the game’s $100,000 top prize. The Sykesville resident said he waited until 2024 to make his claim so he could savor his win and “enjoy the moment.”

The father of two said the Saturday after Thanksgiving was when Lady Luck made an appearance at the Sykesville Convenience Store. He was grabbing something to eat when he decided to purchase four of the $10 FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier games. The loyal player is a huge fan of FAST PLAY games and likes to prep for his purchases in advance.

“I like to check out the remaining prizes on the games before I get them,” he said. “I was feeling pretty good, because only two of the top prizes were claimed on that game.”

While at the Carroll County store, the lucky player began to scan his games. He was caught off guard when one of the scanned messages said, “Congratulations.”

“I saw the ‘1’ and ‘0’ and immediately thought, $10,” he recalled, smiling. “But then, as I looked closer, I thought, ‘That’s a lot of zeros.’”

Indeed, the big winner was looking at a $100,000 winning message. Nervous, he scanned the ticket a second time to confirm that he wasn’t seeing things. Feeling confident about the win, the happy dad put his lucky ticket away, purchased his food and went on his way.

The anonymous winner, who has a master’s degree, would like to further his education and plans to use some of his prize toward that goal. He also plans to help his daughters as needed.

For its role in selling the $100,000 top-prize winning FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier ticket, Sykesville Convenience Store located at 887 Sandusky Road in Sykesville earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The Mega Multiplier game, which went on sale in April 2023, is still packed with big prizes. Players can try to win 27 unclaimed top prizes, 15 $50,000 prizes, 26 $20,000 prizes and 25 $10,000 prizes.
