Eastern Shore Bus Driver Drops Off $57,777 Winning Ticket

Claims top prize on FAST PLAY Sevens game

Returning from dinner with friends last Thursday, a Salisbury woman stopped by a local convenience store and gas station to buy a cold beverage. If she’d finished her meal a few minutes later, had she chosen a different route home or if she played a Lottery game other than the $5 FAST PLAY Sevens game, she might have left with only that refreshing soda in hand. Instead, she carried the soda and a $57,777 prize-winning ticket.

“I play the Lottery a couple of times a week,” the Wicomico County woman told Lottery officials. “But I just started with FAST PLAY.”

The 45-year-old had no intention of buying a ticket when she visited Autumn Grove Exxon in Salisbury. “I saw the vending machine as I was leaving and figured I’d give it a try. The lottery was the last thing on my mind.”

That was about to change dramatically.

“When I looked at the ticket, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My heart started racing!”  The loyal player hurried home to share the news of her $57,777 win with family and friends. “It was pretty late, so we couldn’t celebrate in person. We sure did over the phone, though.”

The lucky bus driver, who serves disabled passengers, is in the early stages of buying a home. “My plans have gotten a huge jump start with this,” she replied when asked how her FAST PLAY prize would fit into her life.

The winning didn’t stop with her. The owners of Autumn Grove Exxon at 1801 Autumn Grove Court in Salisbury will receive a $577.77 bonus for selling the top-prize winner. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
