An Eastern Shore man earmarks a small dollar amount for playing the Lottery. He especially likes playing draw games when the jackpots are high. Although there was no monster Powerball jackpot on Jan. 21, he decided to try his luck anyway. Lo and behold, he came away with a $50,000 win.
The winner bought his $10 five-combination ticket on the day of the drawing at the Goose Creek store at 10519 Greensboro Road in Denton, not far from his home.
Later that day he checked his ticket and overlooked a matching number. This caused him to think he had a $100 prize. But after triple checking his ticket, realized he had matched a total of four white balls plus the Powerball for a $50,000 third tier prize.
He also matched just the Powerball on another combination, bringing his winnings to $50,004.
Immediately after his discovery, he sent his wife a text message telling her of the great news. The Eastern Shore man says his only plans for his winnings is to put the money away for his children.
