An Eastern Shore woman enjoys doing crossword puzzles and that love transfers over to crossword scratch-offs. All that playing paid off as she was a $50,000 winner on the Deluxe Crossword 9th Edition scratch-off.
The loyal scratch-off player was at home checking the scratch-off and yelled so loud after the win, it got her daughter’s attention.
“I was happy. I screamed ‘I won. I won’ but my daughter didn’t believe it,” the winner recalled.
The retired housekeeper looked at her ticket and saw that she had the top prize by having four red words and four black words.
According to the Queen Anne’s County resident, she plans to give some money to family and wants to buy her husband a nice present.
“He was so happy that I told him I was going to buy him a car,” our winner said.
The $5 Deluxe Crossword game went on sale in September 2024 with eight top prizes of $50,000. This is the sixth top prize claimed, leaving two unclaimed. There are other prizes ranging from $5 to $10,000.
The winning ticket was bought at Dominion Exxon, located at 100 Dominion Road in Chester. For selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the Queen Anne’s County business receives a Lottery bonus of $500.
