A Maryland Lottery player from Edgewood maintained a nonchalant demeanor Aug. 25 when she claimed her $50,000 In The Green scratch-off top prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
“I play a couple times a week. It’s just fun,” she said, adding the appeal of playing is “hoping to win big.”
The scratch-off fan was at the Food Lion grocery store at 2250 Hanson Road in Edgewood and initially won $27 playing a $2 ticket. With that money, she purchased several of the In The Green tickets and one of them turned out to be the $50,000 top-prize winner.
She went all in on the game because it is a relatively new ticket, having made its debut on July 17. Her win is the first of seven $50,000 top prizes on the game, leaving another six unclaimed.
The winner told Lottery officials she plans to save most of her winnings.
