John Hammel of Fallston was selected as the $50,000 grand-prize winner in the 2025 Holiday second-chance promotion.
The holidays might be over but the fun is just beginning for John Hammel after he won the $50,000 grand prize in the Holiday second-chance promotion.
The Fallston man said he didn’t believe he was a $50,000 winner after receiving his congratulatory email, so he checked online to confirm.
“I went to the Lottery website to look it up,” the retired property manager explained.
When he saw his name listed on the site, he started to smile. The 62-year-old plans to use some of the prize on a home improvement project, but is undecided on how to spend the rest of the money.
“I never thought I would win this big,” John added.
According to the Harford County resident, he won a few hundred dollars in prizes after purchasing some of this year’s holiday scratch-offs but became a much bigger winner when he entered his non-winning tickets into My Lottery Rewards.
The Holiday second-chance promotion, which ran from Oct. 17-Jan. 12, also produced 47 winners of $5,000 each and six Cash and Dash Shopping Spree winners. The Cash and Dash winners received a four-day/three-night trip for two to Chicago to participate in a ninety second (:90) dash event course through a warehouse to place as much merchandise as possible into their shopping cart.
Although the Holiday second-chance promotion has ended, there are other My Lottery Rewards promotions in full swing, including X the Cash with cash prizes of $50,000 and Team USA™ awarding VIP trips to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
