Popular $3 ticket delivers top-prize win
A Montgomery County man is planning an international trip to visit his family after winning $30,000 playing a FAST PLAY MONOPOLY™ Game Tokens ticket. He was visiting a friend a week ago when good fortune came his way.
The big winner stopped at the White Oak Convenience Store in Silver Spring to pick up a few games before heading home from his visit. He enjoys playing scratch-offs and FAST PLAY games and purchased a few of each. One of those games was the $3 FAST PLAY MONOPOLY Game Tokens ticket, which is offered by the Maryland Lottery and licensed by Scientific Games, LLC.
Normally, just one look at a FAST PLAY game will reveal a win. However, the lucky Gaithersburg resident wasn’t quite sure if his ticket was a winner or not.
“I just didn’t know, so I scanned it,” he said. “The message said to go to the Lottery.”
To discover the winning amount, the loyal player asked the Montgomery County store cashier to double-check his ticket. His $30,000 top-prize win confirmed! The happy player called his good friend and mentor to share the news before dashing out of the store to secure his ticket at home.
“He was so excited, so I told him to calm down and be safe getting home,” said the friend, who accompanied the winner to claim the prize this week in Baltimore.
The fortunate winner plans to use his prize to visit his family abroad. “I haven’t seen them in many years,” he said.
White Oak Convenience Store, located at 11407 Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, is also enjoying Lottery luck. The retailer will collect a $300 Lottery bonus for selling the top-prize winning FAST PLAY ticket in the game, which went on sale in January 2022. MONOPOLY Game Tokens still has five of its 10 $30,000 top prizes awaiting discovery, along with others ranging from $3 to $1,000.
