A Delaware woman who occasionally plays lottery games in both in her home state and in Maryland scored a $100,000 win on a scratch-off ticket she bought while giving a relative a ride to Maryland.
“When I have a little change, I like to play,” she said March 18 when she claimed her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “It was just one of those days I felt like playing,” she added.
The New Castle County grandmother was giving her nephew a lift and stopped at the Royal Farms store at 115 North Bohemia Avenue in Cecilton in southern Cecil County. That’s where she bought the $10 Silver Bell Bucks ticket that ended up being worth $100,000.
She said she anticipates members of her family will benefit from the win, but she isn’t sure of specifically what she’ll do with her winnings.
“I don’t know yet,” she said, adding, “Thank you, Lord.”
The Cecilton Royal Farms receives a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning ticket. The Silver Bell Bucks game was one of six holiday-themed scratch-off tickets launched in October. Two of the game’s $100,000 top prizes remain unclaimed as of March 18, along with 13 prizes of $10,000 and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
