Gaithersburg Player’s Racetrax Superfecta Bet Brings $39,029 Win

Big score catches player off guard, family party in the works

A bit overwhelmed by winning $39,029 playing Racetrax, a Gaithersburg man arrived at Lottery headquarters unsure how he was going to spend the prize from the simulated horse-racing game.

The happy winner claimed the prize with his brother at his side. The two are regular Racetrax players, but this is the biggest win either has picked up to date.

“It’s my first time, actually,” he said of winning a big prize.

The Montgomery County man said he is pretty certain there will be a family party to celebrate his Lottery luck. Both he and his brother plan to continue playing Racetrax.

His big win came on a Superfecta bet that the 12, 8, 3 and 5 horses would cross the finish line in that exact order. The winner played 15 drawings at $1 each for the win, which came in the 13th race. He placed the lucky bet at Giant #135, 3860 International Drive, in Silver Spring.

The Montgomery County retailer receives a bonus of $390.29, equal to 1% of the prize, from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more.
